Koji Otsuki is Marlboro’s head music librarian, software developer, and Bach specialist. He received a Master’s degree in choral conducting from Temple University and studied Bach in Tokyo as a Japanese government fellow under Masaaki Suzuki, director of the Bach Collegium Japan. While in Tokyo, he also studied baroque violin, flauto traverso, baroque voice, and early music ensemble. After his return, he continued his studies with Stanley Ritchie and others in a doctoral program at Indiana University.
A versatile administrator, performer, teacher, and conductor, Koji specializes in the historically informed performance of the music of Bach. He is the artistic director of the Bach Collegium Fort Wayne, a vocal and period instrument ensemble in Fort Wayne, Indiana. His recent teaching itinerary includes Otaru, Japan; Kaohsiung, Taiwan; and Shanghai, China. He is founding director of the Gamut Bach Ensemble based in Tokyo and Philadelphia.
